Specialty steel fabrication and machine shop located in Valdosta, GA has an immediate requirement for a Project Engineer (PE). The role will take full responsibility for the management of fabrication projects, ensuring project schedules and deliverables are on budget and on time.
Job Duties:
The Project Engineer (PE) is responsible for providing support and leadership to the project teams and fabricators. The PE is responsible for planning, organizing and implementing the fabrication projects that are under his/her control. He/she must execute the orders and meet the timetable for delivery and build-out phase. The PE must review the work prior to starting the project and review the prequalification, proposals and projects. The PE will work within his/her given budget, track budget expenses and maintain a minimum level of waste and excess material usage. The PE will review the constructability of the project and ensure that all fabricated portions of the work meet regulatory and state inspection guidelines. The position will also be responsible for reviewing subordinates’ work and evaluating them on their work product. This includes employee meetings, evaluations and mentoring sessions.
Job Requirements:
The position requires proficiency in reading and interpreting drawings/blue prints, ability to do material takeoffs, and a willingness to effectively interface with vendors and customers. Individual must have a working knowledge of Basic Steel Design concepts as well as the Basic Fabrication of Steel in accordance with AISC Manuals. This position involves teamwork as well as independent work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
Qualifications:
It is highly desirable that the Project Engineer hold a bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction or Fabrication. Qualified applicants must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Project with Auto-Cad experience preferred.<
